Day 2 of Hanoi trip over.

It's 11:49pm here in my hostel and I've just showered, getting ready for bed.

I'm not used to not having my own PC, my own internet access, my own music playing in the background, my own toilet.

But still, it's been a pretty awesome experience so far.

Today was a real eye-opener because the entire city was alive.

The people of Hanoi are celebrating Vietnam's win in the SEA Games.

Can you imagine an entire city ablaze with motorcycles and their headlights in the dark, as they circle the city streets?

Have you ever seen something close to a riot, matching the sheer number of people on the streets united as one, waving their red national flags and carrying banners on their backs as they race on their bikes?

Today, my friends and I did.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It was a revolution without the violence.

A celebration of triumph.

How can you ever beat that?

Not here, of course.
